I am down in the city and just spent an amazing day attending Vancouver first ever Connecting Bloggers & Brands conference. My feet are sore today, and my head is full of ideas, new contacts and piles of posts that I want to share about the speakers, other bloggers and sponsor brands.
But first, I will share with all my other blogger attendees, the list of things they could should be doing today to get the most out of yesterday’s conference.
1. Work through your twitter
Live tweeting at events is hot, but sometimes it is hard to keep track of the links, and connections made. Take a few minutes today to load up your hootsuite or tweetdeck and peruse the event hashtag. Engage, retweet, thank, and share information. Follow the other attendees (from the hosting handles conference “list” on their twitter profile) and create lists of your own to maintain these connections.
2. Work through your business cards
You should have picked up business cards at the conference (and shared some of your own) Go back through the cards, and even if you can’t make a connection with them today, add a little note about your interaction, and how you would like to engage with the person in the future. Keep them organized, add them to your linked in, facebook, and other social media accounts.
3. Write about it.
You are a blogger, you should be writing about this. Really, you should. What was your experience like, what wowed you, what was your biggest takeaway, best new connection. Write from a position where you recognize the theme of your blog (make it relevant) Share event photos, stories and information.
THEN SHARE YOUR POST!
The hashtag is still live- tweet your post out under the hashtag
Include your URL in your emails to brands (if you have mentioned them)
Share your experience, not just with your readers, but with the other attendees as well! If you have mentioned someone in your post, be sure to hyperlink them and tag them on your social media promotions. Let them know you are talking about them, and like who they were and what they shared.
Rest your feet
Okay, not really. But, sit down, grab a pen and paper and make a list of the information you received that you want to implement. Start making a plan for the upgrades and work you need to do and keep it handy. We are filled with so much great content and connections it is easy to be overwhelmed and not know where to start. Think back to what excited you the most, what ideas you had and create a to-do list!
And then . . . start! Be energized and leap into your blog with new ideas and fresh opinions. Clean up (where clean up is needed) and start taking your business even farther.
Good luck!
