Yes, we all love summer. Summer is da’bomb. The clear skies, beach days and popsicles just make our world perfect.
Except, when summer just gets to be too much summer.
We are still having “amazing” weather, which means we are still forcing the kids to go OUTSIDE and get off the couch. Except the kids are TIRED. They just want to lame out and crash on the couch!
And I get it, I do. I also want to eat lasagna, and binge watch Netflix, but the garden is still growing, and the laws need to be cut.
So, here is my list of my Top 5 “won’t make you feel guilty if you are watching them on a sunny day” picks from our fave “on the go” platform Netflix!
- Pretty much ANYTHING in the documentary section is fair in my books. If I happen upon my kids watching “Plant Earth” while the sun is shining, I am going to be pretty forgiving of them! Learning ANYTHING while couch surfing makes it legit.
- Disney. Disney rocks, and their movies, while entertaining, USUALLY also have a learning moment in them. We love that Netflix has added “The Fox and the Hound” to its playlist, but there is also Atlantis, Lilo & Stitch, and their new(er) film, Meet the Robinsons available!
- My kids love House- well, the girls do. Personally, I love it too, and I would much rather have my kids watching House cure mysterious illness instead of trying to figure out who “A” is again this season! Also, I still have crazy hopes one of them will go into medicine!
- True Stories are also game. Soul Surfer being one of them. I think it helps the kids to understand and explore different circumstances, and it changes it for them as it IS real. I still cry every time with that movie. Every. Single. Time.
- Retro movies are also ok. If I walk in and you are watching 9 to 5, or Adventures in Babysitting, I am going to JOIN you on the couch! Bring me back to my youthful days and you can stay inside ALL day long.
I know the sunny days are limited, but honestly, we have had SO MANY this year that maybe sneaking in and letting ourselves enjoy a few hours of Netflix isn’t such a bad thing?
Did you know a Netflix account is only a few bucks a month? And you can stream from multiple devices off the same account?
