There are some pretty fabulous moments in all of our lives. Moments where you catch your breath and say “Yup, this IS happening”
Moments where you are amazed at where you are, what you are doing and take a wee second to just sit in the moment and relish it.
We had a moment like this yesterday. On our regular sunday sail, we turned the boat towards Galiano Island to hang our hat on the “back end” of Montague Harbour. We swam, sunned and snacked and enjoyed the day.
The moment?
Well, the first one hit home as we chatted with the other visitors to the beach, being able to share our story of “Oh, we just live over there” and our leap of faith as we moved to the island.
Visitors who told their story of working extra hard for a two week holiday this summer so they could come and boat and explore in our BACK YARD.
That was an awesome moment. Realizing that after years of saying we should be enjoying life, we actually were. We were enjoying our days, and the moments squeezed into the days.
Moment number two came as we crested the bend on the way home. Kids tucked inside as the waves crashed over the hull and sprayed us. Catching the wind and getting soaking wet as we sailed our asses off.
Salty and alive, we pulled into our mooring. We ate twice baked potatoes swimming in cheese and drank red wine and smiled through the salt burn on our cheeks.
Two moments in one day. . . how DID we get so lucky?
